A Family of Symmetrical and Unsymmetrical Aza‐Dipyrromethenes and Aza‐BODIPYs with Through‐Bond and Face‐To‐Face π‐Interaction between Termini

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 50, September 5, 2025.
The reported aza‐dibenzodiprromethenes present a rare helical architecture, placing terminal aryl groups in a close, π‐stacked arrangement. Differentially terminated derivatives are prepared by statistical condensation or controlled synthesis via conversion of one partner to its tosylate or triflate.

Plasmonic Polymorphs by Combining Shape Anisotropy and Soft Interactions in Bipyramid Thin Films

open access: yesSmall, Volume 21, Issue 31, August 7, 2025.
The interplay of soft ligand coatings and anisotropy leads to structural diversity in superstructures of pentagonal gold nanobipyramids (AuBP). The correlated analysis of structure and optical properties with high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR‐TEM), scanning transmission electron microscopy electron energy loss spectroscopy (STEM‐EELS)

Shining Bright at 960 nm: A 28‐Silver‐Atom Nanorod Stabilized by DNA

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2025.
Single‐crystal X‐ray data reveal the structure of a 28‐silver‐atom cluster wrapped within two DNA oligomers. In the crystalline state, two chlorido ligands are detected, which are absent in the mass spectrometry data of the solution state. With 12 valence electrons, the silver cluster has an absorption band situated at 835 nm and an emission peaking at

Lipid Metabolism and Immune Function: Chemical Tools for Insights into T‐Cell Biology

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 11, June 3, 2025.
This review explores how lipids regulate immune responses, particularly in T‐cell function. Advances in metabolomics and proteomics provide insights into lipid‐mediated immunity. Fluorescent lipids enable single‐cell analysis of lipid uptake and metabolism.

Increasing acidification does not affect sexual reproduction of a solitary zooxanthellate coral transplanted at a carbon dioxide vent

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 70, Issue 6, Page 1666-1677, June 2025.
Abstract The absorption of atmospheric carbon dioxide is causing significant changes to the carbonate chemistry of the ocean, in a phenomenon called ocean acidification. The latter makes it potentially more difficult for marine calcifiers like corals, to build their calcium carbonate structures, thus affecting their ability to survive and reproduce ...
