Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Application of dense plasma focus devices and lasers in the radiation material sciences for the goals of inertial fusion beyond ignition

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes, 2020
Specimens of materials for prospective use in chambers of nuclear fusion reactors with inertial plasma confinement, namely, W, ODS steels, Eurofer 97 steel, a number of ceramics, etc., have been irradiated by dense plasma focus ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Temporal distribution of linear densities of the plasma column in a plasma focus discharge

open access: yesNukleonika, 2015
Experiments were carried out on the PF-1000 plasma focus device, with a deuterium filling and with deuterium puffing from a gas-puff nozzle placed on the axis of the anode face. The current was reaching 2 MA.

Hard X-Ray Emission Detection Using Deep Learning Analysis of the Radiated UHF Electromagnetic Signal From a Plasma Focus Discharge

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A method to determine the presence of hard X-ray emission processes from a dense plasma focus (205 J, 22 kV, 6.5 mbar H2) using Ultra High Frequency (UHF) measurements and deep learning techniques is presented.

High Temperature Oxidation Resistance Performance of TiC/Mo Composite by Spark Plasma Sintering

open access: yesMedžiagotyra, 2022
In this paper, the Titanium carbide/Molybdenum (TiC/Mo) alloy was prepared by spark plasma sintering (SPS). The oxidation process of the TiC/Mo alloy at different oxidation temperatures was studied, and the oxidation mechanism was discussed in depth. The

Magnetic field amplification and electron acceleration to near-energy equipartition with ions by a mildly relativistic quasi-parallel plasma protoshock

open access: yes, 2010
The prompt emissions of gamma-ray bursts are seeded by radiating ultrarelativistic electrons. Internal shocks propagating through a jet launched by a stellar implosion, are expected to amplify the magnetic field & accelerate electrons.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Ideal magnetohydrodynamic simulations of unmagnetized dense plasma jet injection into a hot strongly magnetized plasma

open access: yes, 2011
We present results from three-dimensional ideal magnetohydrodynamic simulations of unmagnetized dense plasma jet injection into a uniform hot strongly magnetized plasma, with the aim of providing insight into core fueling of a tokamak with parameters ...

The Texas Petawatt Laser And Current Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Texas Petawatt Laser is operational with experimental campaigns executed in both F/40 and F3 target chambers. Recent improvements have resulted in intensities of >2x10(21) W/cm(2) on target.
