Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Global imaging of the Earth's deep interior: seismic constraints on (an)isotropy, density and attenuation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Seismic tomography is the principal tool to probe the deep interior of the Earth. Models of seismic anisotropy induced by crystal alignment provide insight into the underlying convective motion, and variations of density allow us to discriminate between ...

Density limit in peeling-limited pedestals at and above the Greenwald value in DIII-D high poloidal beta plasmas

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
High-pressure, peeling-limited pedestals with pedestal normalized beta β _N,ped > 2 and pedestal top density n _ped at or above the Greenwald density n _G have been achieved in DIII-D high poloidal beta plasmas, together with high global normalized beta ...

Pair-density-wave in the strong coupling limit of the Holstein-Hubbard model

open access: yesnpj Quantum Materials, 2022
A pair-density-wave (PDW) is a superconducting state with an oscillating order parameter. A microscopic mechanism that can give rise to it has been long sought but has not yet been established by any controlled calculation.

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Overview of the recent experimental research on the J-TEXT tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The J-TEXT capability is enhanced compared to two years ago with several upgrades of its diagnostics and the increase of electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) power to 1 MW.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Three-dimensional boundary turbulence simulations of a RFX-mod plasma in the presence of voltage biasing

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Three-dimensional turbulence simulations of a RFX-mod diverted plasma are performed in the presence of a biasing electrode. The simulations show a strong suppression of turbulent transport caused by the induced $\mathbf{E}\times\mathbf{B}$ flow shear ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Stochastic evolution as a quasiclassical limit of a boundary value problem for Schrödinger equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We develop systematically a new unifying approach to the analysis of linear stochastic, quantum stochastic and even deterministic equations in Banach spaces.
