Investigation of density limit parameter dependence using symbolic regression and MHD simulation in EAST

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The density limit is a fundamental operational boundary in tokamaks. The accurate prediction of this limit is crucial for attaining higher-density, higher-confinement plasma operations while mitigating the risk of disruptions.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Reliability-Ratio Based Weighted Bit-Flipping Decoding for Low-Density Parity Check Codes

open access: yes, 2004
A novel reliability ratio based weighted bit-flipping decoding scheme is proposed for low-density parity-check codes. A coding gain of 1 dB is achieved in comparison to the weighted bit-flipping scheme, when communicating over an AWGN channel, while ...

New self-similar radiation-hydrodynamics solutions in the high-energy density, equilibrium diffusion limit

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
This work presents semi-analytic solutions to a radiation-hydrodynamics problem of a radiation source driving an initially cold medium. Our solutions are in the equilibrium diffusion limit, include material motion and allow for radiation-dominated ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Asymptotic Theory for Zero Energy Density Estimation with Nonparametric Regression Applications [PDF]

open access: yes
A local limit theorem is given for the sample mean of a zero energy function of a nonstationary time series involving twin numerical sequences that pass to infinity.

Density limit experiments on FTU

open access: yes, 2013
One of the main problems in tokamak fusion devices concerns the capability to operate at a high plasma density, which is observed to be limited by the appearance of catastrophic events causing loss of plasma confinement.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Upper-limit power for self-guided propagation of intense lasers in underdense plasma

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering, 2013
It is found that there is an upper-limit critical power for self-guided propagation of intense lasers in plasma in addition to the well-known lower-limit critical power set by the relativistic effect.
