Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

THE DISTRIBUTION OF FILLER MATERIAL ON BASE METALS DURING BRAZING OF ALUMINUM ALLOYS [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2013
Since aluminum brazing technology is relatively new compared to other permanent joiningtechnologies, this technological process needs a scientific approach. One of the specific parameters of this type of technological processes is the distribution of ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Formation of hydroxyapatite coatings with addition of chitosan from aqueous solutions by thermal substrate method [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал інженерних наук, 2017
The aim of this investigation was obtaining of biocompatible coatings for medical implants based on biopolymer chitosan and hydroxyapatite, which is the main mineral component of bone tissue. Coatings were obtained by thermal substrate method, because it

Mechanisms of Ignition by Transient Energy Deposition: Regimes of Combustion Waves Propagation

open access: yes, 2013
Regimes of chemical reaction wave propagating in reactive gaseous mixtures, whose chemistry is governed by chain-branching kinetics, are studied depending on the characteristics of a transient thermal energy deposition localized in a finite volume of ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Neutron radiation induced transmutation of boron to lithium in aluminum-boron nitride composite

open access: yesMaterials Today Advances
Lightweight materials are essential for applications in harsh environments, such as space explorations, where materials must exhibit exceptional durability and resistance to radiation damage for both humans and equipment.

Thin film growth by using random shape cluster deposition

open access: yes, 2012
The growth of a rough and porous thin surface by deposition of randomly shaped clusters with different sizes over an initially flat linear substrate is simulated, using Monte Carlo technique. Unlike the ordinary Random Deposition, our approach results in

Diabetes‐induced vascular calcification is associated with low pyrophosphate and its oral supplementation prevents calcification in diabetic mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Induction of diabetes in three different mouse strains uniformly resulted in an increase in TNAP activity and a reduction in pyrophosphate (PPi) in the circulation. Inhibition of TNAP restored plasma PPi. Diabetes‐induced calcification in the media layer of the aorta was detected only in the Abcc6−/− strain, which is predisposed to ectopic ...
