The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Integrating parental genomes to reduce reference bias and identify intramuscular fat genes in Qinchuan Black pigs

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Biotechnology
Background Traditional genomic analysis relies on a single reference genome, which struggles to effectively characterize the genetic diversity among populations. This is due to the substantial genetic differences between the genome of the studied species

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Mechanistic insights into high strain rate deposition of tantalum carbide coatings via cold spray

open access: yesMaterials & Design
While cold spray (CS) is traditionally limited to metals and metal-ceramic composites, this study demonstrates its capability to consolidate a pure ultra-high temperature ceramic (UHTC), tantalum carbide (TaC), a superhard material considered highly ...

Restoration of paleokarst geomorphology of Sinian Dengying Formation in Sichuan Basin and its significance, SW China

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2015
Based on newly drilled well data in the Gaoshiti area in the central Sichuan Basin, profile data of more than 150 field outcrops of the regional geological survey, and stratigraphic division and correlation of more than 30 wells in the Sichuan Basin and ...

Low-Pressure CVD of Germanium-Silicon films using Silane and Germane sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In this work a study of Low Pressure Chemical Vapour Deposition (LPCVD) of Germanium-Silicon films has been carried out. The films were deposited on thermally oxidised silicon wafers using a horizontal hot-wall LPCVD system, at deposition temperatures ...

Electron-positron energy deposition rate from neutrino pair annihilation in the equatorial plane of rapidly rotating neutron and quark stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The neutrino-antineutrino annihilation into electron-positron pairs near the surface of compact general relativistic stars could play an important role in supernova explosions, neutron star collapse, or for close neutron star binaries near their last ...

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Weak Hydrogen Bond with Iodide Modulating Crystallization of Methylammonium Lead Iodide for High-Performance Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesMicromachines
The weak hydrogen bond with methylammonium iodide (MAI) dominates the formation of methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) during its nucleation and growth process.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
