Depth Coding Based on Depth-Texture Motion and Structure Similarities
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 2015This paper addresses high performance depth coding in 3D video by making good use of its coded texture video counterpart. The relationship between the depth and its associated texture video in terms of coding mode and motion vector is carefully examined.

In this paper, we propose an AVC compliant bit depth scalable coding solution based on MacroBlock level inter-layer prediction. This proposed coding solution is based on the current SVC platform and new decoding processes for bit depth upsampling are introduced.

Decision depths of convolutional codes
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1989The decision depth function of a convolutional code L/sub D/(w) is the first trellis depth at which all unmerged incorrect subset paths exceed weight w. The authors tabulate this function for most codes in common use. L/sub D/(w) specifies the path memory length of a decoder. It follows a clear asymptotic growth rule. >

Multiview video and depth coding
2012 Picture Coding Symposium, 2012In this paper we propose a method to encode/decode multiview textures and associated depth maps together in a single bitstream. Encoded bits of depth maps have been merged into that of associated textures in an innovative way with very minimal loss in PSNR of textures, 0.1–0.2 dB for high delay and 0.2–1 dB for low delay applications.
