On the depth distribution of linear codes
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2000Summary: The depth distribution of a linear code was recently introduced by \textit{T. Etzion} [ibid. 43, 1361-1363 (1997; Zbl 0878.94052)]. In this correspondence, a number of basic and interesting properties for the depth of finite words and the depth distribution of linear codes are obtained. In addition, we study the enumeration problem of counting

We present a novel shape from focus method for high-speed shape reconstruction in optical microscopy. While the traditional shape from focus approach heavily depends on the presence of surface texture, and requires a considerable amount of measurement time, our method is able to perform 3D reconstruction from only two images.

Three-dimensional Television (3DTV) system based on Depth-Image-Based Rendering(DIBR) has won popular recognition of researchers. Since the depth information is closely related with the rendering of viewed pixels, the quality of coding has a direct impact on the later effect of the three-dimensional(3D) video, of which the existence of cloud noise and ...

Bit-Depth Scalable Video Coding
2007 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2007Scalable video coding (SVC) is an extension of H.264/AVC, which is currently being developed by the Joint Video Team. SVC supports any combination of temporal, spatial, and SNR scalability, but there is no special treatment for the case that two or more different bit-depths have to be supported by the scalable bit-stream.

Fast depth coding based on depth map segmentation for 3D video coding
2017 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - Taiwan (ICCE-TW), 2017This paper proposes a fast algorithm based on depth map segmentation for the depth coding of 3D video coding to reduce the coding complexity of the depth map. The proposed algorithm segments the depth map into different regions by modifying automatic thresholding technique.

Depth up-sampling for depth coding using view information
2011 3DTV Conference: The True Vision - Capture, Transmission and Display of 3D Video (3DTV-CON), 2011In 3DTV and free viewpoint imaging systems based on a view-plus-depth representation, depth compression is important for high-quality view synthesis. Several publications have proposed depth down-/up-sampling as part of the depth coding strategy. Recently, we proposed a depth up-sampling method which uses the high resolution view in the process of ...

Coupled shock filter for depth enhancement in depth map coding
2012 Picture Coding Symposium, 2012In this paper, we present a novel depth map enhancement scheme in depth map coding. For this purpose, we develop a coupled shock filter that enhances the coded depth map by the edge sharpening and the noise smoothing. Unlike the previous works that control the edge enhancement by the Gaussian blur or anisotropic diffusion, our approach is different in ...

L-Infinite Predictive Coding of Depth
2018The paper introduces a novel \(L_\infty \)-constrained compression method for depth maps. The proposed method performs depth segmentation and depth prediction in each segment, encoding the resulting information as a base layer. The depth residuals are modeled using a Two-Sided Geometric Distribution, and distortion and entropy models for the quantized ...

Depth map distortion analysis for view rendering and depth coding
2009 16th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2009Video representations that support view synthesis based on depth maps, such as multiview plus depth (MVD), have been recently proposed, raising interest in efficient tools for depth map coding. In this paper, we derive a new distortion metric that takes into consideration camera parameters and global video characteristics in order to quantify the ...

Adaptive Depth edge sharpening for 3D video depth coding
2012 Visual Communications and Image Processing, 2012In 3D video systems with Multiview Video plus Depth (MVD) representation, intermediate views can be rendered from transmitted texture views and corresponding depth maps by techniques such as Depth Image Based Rendering (DIBR). Recent standardization activities in MPEG include the development for such MVD based 3DV codecs.
