A Derivative-Free Observability Analysis Method of Stochastic Power Systems

open access: yes, 2021
The observability analysis of a time-varying nonlinear dynamic model has recently attracted the attention of power engineers due to its vital role in power system dynamic state estimation.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

On the semilocal convergence of derivative free methods for solving nonlinear equations

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2012
We introduce a Derivative Free Method (DFM) for solving nonlinear equations in a Banach space setting. We provide a semilocal convergence analysis for DFM using recurrence relations. Numerical examples validating our theoretical results are also provided

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Trial methods for Bernoulli's free boundary problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Free boundary problems deal with solving partial differential equations in a domain, a part of whose boundary is unknown – the so-called free boundary. Beside the standard boundary conditions that are needed in order to solve the partial differential ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Pricing American Interest Rate Options in a Heath-Jarrow-Morton Framework Using Method of Lines [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider the pricing of American bond options in a Heath-Jarrow-Morton framework in which the forward rate volatility is a function of time to maturity and the instantaneous spot rate of interest.

Transient vibration analysis of a completely free plate using modes obtained by Gorman's superposition method

open access: yes, 2010
This paper shows that the transient response of a plate undergoing flexural vibration can be calculated accurately and efficiently using the natural frequencies and modes obtained from the superposition method.

INEXACT RESTORATION METHOD for DERIVATIVE-FREE OPTIMIZATION WITH SMOOTH CONSTRAINTS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A new method is introduced for solving constrained optimization problems in which the derivatives of the constraints are available but the derivatives of the objective function are not.
