Estimation of Leaf Nitrogen Content in Wheat Using New Hyperspectral Indices and a Random Forest Regression Algorithm

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Novel hyperspectral indices, which are the first derivative normalized difference nitrogen index (FD-NDNI) and the first derivative ratio nitrogen vegetation index (FD-SRNI), were developed to estimate the leaf nitrogen content (LNC) of wheat.

Local derivations on associative and Jordan matrix algebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In the present paper we prove that every additive (not necessarily homogenous) local inner derivation on the algebra of matrices over an arbitrary field is an inner derivation, and every local inner derivation on the ring of matrices over a finite ring generated by the identity element or the ring of integers is an inner derivation.

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

Characterizations of 2-local derivations and local Lie derivations on some algebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We prove that every 2-local derivation from the algebra $M_n(\mathcal{A})(n>2)$ into its bimodule $M_n(\mathcal{M})$ is a derivation, where $\mathcal{A}$ is a unital Banach algebra and $\mathcal{M}$ is a unital $\mathcal{A}$-bimodule such that each Jordan derivation from $\mathcal{A}$ into $\mathcal{M}$ is an inner derivation, and that every 2-local ...

Protonophore activity of short‐chain fatty acids induces their intracellular accumulation and acidification

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The protonated form of butyrate, as well as other short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), is membrane permeable. In acidic extracellular environments, this can lead to intracellular accumulation of SCFAs and cytosolic acidification. This phenomenon will be particularly relevant in acidic environments such as the large intestine or tumor microenvironments ...

Local derivations on Solvable Lie algebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We show that in the class of solvable Lie algebras there exist algebras which admit local derivations which are not ordinary derivation and also algebras for which every local derivation is a derivation. We found necessary and sufficient conditions under which any local derivation of solvable Lie algebras with abelian nilradical and one-dimensional ...

A stepwise emergence of evolution in the RNA world

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How did biological evolution emerge from chemical reactions? This perspective proposes a gradual scenario of self‐organization among RNA molecules, where catalytic feedback on random mixtures plays the central role. Short oligomers cross‐ligate, and self‐assembly enables heritable variations. An event of template‐externalization marks the transition to
