Review of current knee biomechanical modeling techniques [PDF]
In this paper we are going to present an essential modification of an existing analytical model. The model creation normally starts with a simplified, less complex analytical model, where the phenomena can be easily interpreted, checked and controlled ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Coarsening droplets for frosting delay on hydrophilic slippery liquid‐infused porous surfaces
Frosting occurs due to the freezing of condensed water droplets on a supercooled surface. The nucleated frost propagates through interdroplet bridges and covers the entire surface, resulting from the deposition of highly supersaturated vapor surrounding ...

Electrowetting on dielectric (EWOD) and dielectrowetting (DEW) are two major principles to drive droplets in digital microfluidics. EWOD is effective to manipulate (create, transport, split, and merge) conductive droplets being currently used for many ...

Evolution of science II: Insights into working of Nature
We attempt to provide a comprehensive model of evolution of science across millennia taking into account the contributions of other intellectual traditions, cultural value system and increasing in sophistication of humans in their study of nature.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Droplet Laplace valve‐enabled glaucoma implant for intraocular pressure management
Glaucoma, the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, is closely linked to aqueous overaccumulation and elevated intraocular pressure (IOP).

Droplet orthogonal impact on nonuniform wettability surfaces
The vast majority of prior studies on droplet impact have focused on collisions of liquid droplets with spatially homogeneous (i.e., uniform‐wettability) surfaces.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
