Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

The compositional meaning of a detection limit

open access: yes, 2011
Conclusions The chemical interpretation of the detection limit and its stochastic model counterpart has thus different consequences for the statistical analysis than we would expect from the word by word interpretation of “below detection limit” as a concentration below some limit.

Infrared Satellite Detection Limits for Monitoring Atmospheric Ammonia

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
This study investigates single pixel nadir viewing detection limit of atmospheric ammonia for a range of area flux mapping satellite infrared sensor spectral resolutions (0.05–2.0 cm−1) and measurement noise levels.
