Gossiping for threshold detection [PDF]

open access: yes2009 IFIP/IEEE International Symposium on Integrated Network Management, 2009
We investigate the use of gossip protocols to detect threshold crossings of network-wide aggregates. Aggregates are computed from local device variables using functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX and MIN. The process of aggregation and detection is performed using a standard gossiping scheme.

Effects of Matrix Composition on Detection Threshold Estimates for Methyl Anthranilate and 2-Aminoacetophenone

open access: yesFoods, 2016
Conceptually, a detection threshold represents the lowest concentration at which an individual or a group of individuals can reliably perceive a given stimulus, with a commonly used operational definition of 50% performance above chance.

The Utilization of Tunable Transducer Elements Formed by the Manipulation of Magnetic Beads with Different Sizes via Optically Induced Dielectrophoresis (ODEP) for High Signal-to-Noise Ratios (SNRs) and Multiplex Fluorescence-Based Biosensing Applications

open access: yesBiosensors, 2022
Magnetic beads improve biosensing performance by means of their small volume and controllability by magnetic force. In this study, a new technique composed of optically induced dielectrodphoresis (ODEP) manipulation and image processing was used to ...

UNIFORM RECTANGULAR ARRAY RADAR OPTIMIZATION FOR EFFICIENT AND ACCURATE ESTIMATION OF TARGET PARAMETERS

open access: yesInformation and Telecommunication Sciences, 2022
Background. If the intensity of moving targets within a surveyed area is low, some sensors of the uniform rectangular array (URA) radar can be (symmetrically) turned off.

DNLS: A Detection Method Based on Normalized Short-Time Fourier Transform-Radon Transform for Low Frequency Sonar Pulse Signal

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Under low-frequency background noise environments, due to the characteristics of poor stability and many interference targets of noise, the detection of unknown low-frequency sonar signals faces huge challenge.

ACCURATE DETECTION OF MULTIPLE TARGETS BY UNIFORM RECTANGULAR ARRAY RADAR WITH THRESHOLD SOFT UPDATE AND AREA RESCANNING

open access: yesInformation and Telecommunication Sciences, 2022
Background. If the intensity of moving targets within a surveyed area is low, an optimal number of uniform rectangular array (URA) radar sensors is in either the minimally-sized URA (or close to it) or maximally-sized URA (or close to it), where the URA ...

Prefrontal Responses to Odors in Individuals With Autism Spectrum Disorders: Functional NIRS Measurement Combined With a Fragrance Pulse Ejection System

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2020
Individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are impaired not only in social competencies but also in sensory perception, particularly olfaction. The olfactory ability of individuals with ASD has been examined in several psychophysical studies, but ...

Modified reference window for two-dimensional CFAR in radar target detection

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
The constant false alarm rate (CFAR) technology plays an important role in radar target detection. In cell averaging CFAR detectors, a reference window is usually adopted to estimate the average interference power in the range–Doppler matrix and to ...

Impacts of Shape Assumptions on Z–R Relationship and Satellite Remote Sensing Clouds Based on Model Simulations and GPM Observations

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
In this study, the spherical particle model and ten nonspherical particle models describing the scattering properties of snow are evaluated for potential use in precipitation estimation from spaceborne dual-frequency precipitation radar.

Wavelength discrimination at detection threshold [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Optical Society of America A, 1990
The experiments that we report aim to elucidate the linkage between cone outputs and color sensation. This is investigated by measuring wavelength discrimination between stimuli at threshold levels of detection. Stimuli are large spots (0.75 deg) presented on a white background.
