Intensity estimation after detection for accumulated rainfall estimation

open access: yesFrontiers in Signal Processing
This work focuses on optimizing the estimation of accumulated rain from measurements of the attenuation level of signals from commercial microwave links (CMLs).

Simultaneous stability and sensitivity in model cortical networks is achieved through anti-correlations between the in- and out-degree of connectivity

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2013
Neuronal networks in rodent barrel cortex are characterized by stable low baseline firing rates. However, they are sensitive to the action potentials of single neurons as suggested by recent single-cell stimulation experiments that report quantifiable ...

On computational Gestalt detection thresholds

open access: yesJournal of Physiology-Paris, 2009
The aim of this paper is to show some recent developments of computational Gestalt theory, as pioneered by Desolneux, Moisan and Morel. The new results allow to predict much more accurately the detection thresholds. This step is unavoidable if one wants to analyze visual detection thresholds in the light of computational Gestalt theory. The paper first

Ultrahigh–Q Microtoroid On-Chip Resonators for Low Threshold Microlasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Recently demonstrated silica toroidal microcavities, as on-chip resonant cavities, become one of the most promising laser resonators due to their exceptional ability to confine optical energy temporarily and spatially (high Q-factor and small mode volume)

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

AMBANG DETEKSI DAN PREFERENSI RASA UMAMI DALAM MODEL PANGAN

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi dan Industri Pangan, 2017
Umami is one of the basic taste produced by monosodium glutamate (MSG). Generally, commercial MSG products did not specify the amount of a certain dose to produce palatable food.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Discontinuity detection and thresholding-a stochastic approach

open access: yesProceedings. 1991 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 1993
We study discontinuity detection and thresholding using a stochastic approach. We discuss a general form of detectors, which includes a number of well known detectors as special cases. Thresholding is indispensable to eliminate spurious responses from the detection process.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

ADAPTIVE DETECTION OF STATIONARY GAUSSIAN SIGNALS AGAINST A NORMAL NOISE BACKGROUND, WITH A CONSTANT FALSE-ALARM RATE

open access: yesRadio Physics and Radio Astronomy, 2017
Purpose: Efficiency analysis of the Cell-Averaging Constant False Alarm Rate processor (CA CFAR-processor) as applied to detection of stationary Gaussian signals against a normal noise background with unknown and/or varying from scan to scan power ...
