Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

UWB signal detection based on wavelet packet and FHN model [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Networked and Distributed Computing (IJNDC), 2017
In UWB-IR signal detection, the threshold of signal to noise ratio(SNR) limit the performance of FHN model detection method, from this point, wavelet packet is introduced into FHN model, a novel UWB-IR signal detection method based on wavelet packet and ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Thresholds for the Detection of Changing Visual Features

open access: yesPerception, 2011
Change blindness refers to the difficulty observers have in detecting otherwise obvious changes to visual stimuli, when these changes are masked in some way. Typically, change blindness is studied by using complex visual scenes and complex changes to these scenes.

On pixel detection threshold in the gigavision camera [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2010
ABSTRACT Recently, we have proposed a new image device called gigavision camera whose most important characteristicis that pixels have binary response. The response function of a gigavision sensor is non-linear and similarto a logarithmic function, which makes the camera suitable for high dynamic range imaging.

On the influence of detection tests on deterministic parameters estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In non-linear estimation problems three distinct regions of operation can be observed. In the asymptotic region, the Mean Square Error (MSE) of Maximum Likelihood Estimators (MLE) is small and, in many cases, close to the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB).

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Review and Evaluation of Eye Movement Event Detection Algorithms

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Eye tracking is a technology aimed at understanding the direction of the human gaze. Event detection is a process of detecting and classifying eye movements that are divided into several types.

Application of Adaptive Thresholds in Robust Fault Detection of an Electro-Mechanical Single-Wheel Steering Actuator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A fault detection scheme has been developed for an electromechanical steering actuator under closed-loop control. The closed-loop system is modeled as a 2nd order system with bounded parameter uncertainties given by the performance specifications.

On computing nullspace bases - a fault detection perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We discuss computationally efficient and numerically reliable algorithms to compute minimal proper nullspace bases of a rational or polynomial matrix.
