Detonation Spraying of Metal Carbides Composites

Materials Science Forum, 2021
Detonation spraying is used for the binary fuel spraying, C2H2/C3H8/O2 of WC/Co and Cr3C2/NiCr powder. The particles-in-flight temperature and velocity are calculated and optimized. Spraying distance is varied from 50 to 400 mm and substrate inclination relatively spraying direction is varied up to 60o. Coating properties: microstructure, microhardness,

Pseudoundercompressed detonation in sprays

Combustion, Explosion, and Shock Waves, 1985
The authors verify that it is necessary to make a more accurate model of the processes occuring in the detonation wave, in particular, fragmentation of drops and mixing, the effect of the walls, change in the heat effect in the reaction zone owing to dissociaiton and recombination processes. The latter are studied in this work.

Characterization of Detonation Sprayed Coatings

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2011
Abstract Characterization of coatings made with the help of Computer Controlled Detonation Spraying (CCDS) was performed. The applied coatings include hard alloys (WC/Co -75/25, WC/Co - 88/12, WC/Co/Cr - 86/10/4, and Cr2C3 / NiCr), aluminum oxide, nickel-chromium self-fluxing alloy, titanium, bronze, and stainless steel.

Detonation Spraying of Refractory Metals

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2017
Abstract Due to high melting temperatures and excellent corrosion resistance of refractory metals, they are used for manufacturing parts working under extreme conditions. The formation of refractory metal coatings by thermal spraying is associated with two major challenges: 1) particles of materials having high melting temperatures ...

Characteristics of a pulse in detonation spraying

Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 1976
1. Methods have been developed for measuring the temperature and velocity of the gas stream in detonation spraying. 2. The time dependence of these parameters has been determined for the process of detonation spraying with an acetylene-oxygen mixture. 3.

Investigations on multicycle spray detonations

Frontiers of Energy and Power Engineering in China, 2007
Experimental investigations were carried out on a 50-I.D. multicycle pulse detonation engine (PDE) model, and liquid fuel (gasoline) was used. The average of pressure peak, as measured by piezoelectricity pressure transducer, increased versus distance to thrust wall before fully-developed detonation came into being.

A model for spray detonations

Acta Astronautica, 1979
Abstract In some cases of spray detonations, blast waves originating from the droplets have been observed. These blast waves eventually catch up with the main front thus providing a means of energy transfer to the front and therefore maintaining a steadily propagating wave.

Calculation of detonation gas spraying

Combustion, Explosion, and Shock Waves, 2007
A model of processes in the barrel of a detonation facility for application of powder coatings, which takes into account the variable composition of the working gases in the barrel, is presented. It is demonstrated that varying the volume of the gas mixer is an effective tool for stabilizing particle parameters and coating properties if powders with ...

Limits of gaseous detonation spraying

Combustion, Explosion and Shock Waves, 2006
The maximum possible values of adhesion and cohesion are calculated for a number of powder materials, substrate materials, sizes of installation barrels, and compositions of explosive gas mixtures. These data give a clear idea about the areas of applicability of gaseous detonation spraying.

Metallization of Plastics by Detonation Spraying

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2008
Abstract Metallization of plastics by thermal spraying is studied. The possibility to obtain high adhesion of metal particles to the surface of a wide range of plastic materials is shown. Powders are sprayed with a new generation detonation gun “Dragon” designed at Lavrentyev Institute of Hydrodynamics SB RAS.
