A Greater Capacity of Metallothionein Synthesis: Would it be Sufficient as Explanation for the Absence of Pathological Effects in Marine Mammals with Extremely High Cd Concentrations? A Review

open access: yesOrbital: The Electronic Journal of Chemistry, 2018
Several studies have shown that marine mammals, especially the oceanic ones, present extremely high Cd concentrations. As the phenomenon of Cd transfer from cephalopods to cetaceans seems to be natural, the most plausible reason for the perpetuation of ...

Understanding the Catalytic Determinant role of Diaphorase‐Like Subunit in Formate Dehydrogenases via Redox Couples

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A unique mechanism of catalytic bias regulated by diaphorase‐like subunit in formate dehydrogenase from Rhodobacter aestuarii is revealed. The diaphorase‐like subunit functions act as a biological “voltage rheostat” that controls the slow release of NADH to regulate redox balance, biasing the enzyme's catalytic preference toward CO2 reduction over ...

Herba Lysimachiae Polysaccharide‐Modified Selenium Nanoparticles Alleviate Oxidative Injury in Kidney Stones via TOMM22‐Regulated Mitophagy Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
HLP‐SeNPs, a Lysimachia christinae polysaccharide‐modified selenium nanoparticle, treat kidney stones by downregulating TOMM22 expression, which reduces PINK1 translocation into mitochondria and promotes its retention on the outer mitochondrial membrane.
