Detrusor Underactivity and Detrusor Hyperactivity with Impaired Contractility
Current Bladder Dysfunction Reports, 2014Detrusor underactivity (DU) is a condition of impaired bladder contraction strength or duration resulting in impaired bladder emptying. In contrast, detrusor hyperactivity with impaired contractility (DHIC) is a condition in which patients paradoxically exhibit detrusor overactivity during storage yet are unable to mount a sufficient detrusor ...

Is detrusor overactivity with detrusor underactivity limited to the elderly?
Neurourology and UrodynamicsAbstract Objective Detrusor overactivity with detrusor underactivity (DO‐DU) is classically described in frail institutionalized elderly patients, but we have also observed this diagnosis in younger populations.

Electromyography of the Detrusor Muscle
British Journal of Urology, 1973Summary A technique is described for investigating in conscious female patients both the low‐frequency (wave) and high‐frequency (spike) components of the detrusor E.M.G. The low‐frequency component appears to be of value in assessing the chemotherapy by antispasmodic drugs in urgency of micturition.

The Management of Detrusor Instability
Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1990Detrusor instability is a urodynamic diagnosis made when the detrusor is shown objectively to contract, spontaneously or on provocation, during the filling phase of a cystometrogram while the patient is attempting to inhibit micturition. It often is responsible for symptoms of urgency, frequency, nocturia, urge incontinence, and nocturnal enuresis, but

Detrusor-Sphincter Dyssynergia
Veterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice, 1996Detrusor-sphincter dyssynergia refers to failure of the urethral sphincter to relax during detrusor contraction. The cause is a central nervous system lesion located between the brain stem micturition center and the sacral spinal cord. This is an extremely rare condition in cats.

Electromyography of the Detrusor, A Method of Investigation of Normal and Abnormal Detrusor Function
British Journal of Urology, 1974Summary The place of detrusor and sphincter electromyography in the investigation of patients with urodynamic problems is discussed. The low‐frequency component of the detrusor E.M.G. and the urethral sphincter recordings are of diagnostic value, and the pressure and flow recordings provide further useful diagnostic information.

Detrusor instability is a common cause of urgency and urge incontinence in neurologically normal patients. It is defined as an involuntary phasic detrusor contraction of any pressure associated with symptoms of urge or leakage while the patient is attempting to inhibit micturition.

[Treatment of neurogenic detrusor hyperactivity: detrusor myomectomy].
Progres en urologie : journal de l'Association francaise d'urologie et de la Societe francaise d'urologie, 2007This article reviews the technical principles and results of bladder auto-augmentation by detrusor myomectomy. This technique has been regularly presented since the 1970s as an alternative to enterocystoplasty, especially in children. This review of the literature demonstrates that the current results of bladder auto-augmentation are highly ...
