Effects of deuterium oxide on cell growth and vesicle speed in RBL-2H3 cells [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2014
For the first time we show the effects of deuterium oxide on cell growth and vesicle transport in rat basophilic leukemia (RBL-2H3) cells. RBL-2H3 cells cultured with 15 moles/L deuterium showed decreased cell growth which was attributed to cells not ...

NUTRITIONAL STATUS IN CHILDREN WITH CANCER: COMPARISON OF DEUTERIUM OXIDE DILUTION WITH BIOELECTRIC IMPEDANCE ANALYSIS AND ANTHROPOMETRY [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Paulista de Pediatria, 2020
Objective: To explore changes in the nutritional status of pediatric cancer patients before and after chemotherapy and evaluate the correlation between deuterium oxide dilution, bioelectric impedance analysis, and anthropometry for assessment of body ...

Pd-catalyzed deuteration of aryl halides with deuterium oxide [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Late-stage deuteration of aryl halides with deuterium oxide is a highly desirable but challenging transformation, primarily due to the difficulty of activating inert carbon-halogen bonds and the umpolung of deuterium oxide in the presence of various ...

A collagen extraction and deuterium oxide stable isotope tracer method for the quantification of bone collagen synthesis rates in vivo [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2021
The development of safe and practical strategies to prevent weakening of bone tissue is vital, yet attempts to achieve this have been hindered by a lack of understanding of the short‐term (days‐weeks) physiology of bone collagen turnover. To address this,

Deuterium plasma exposure of thin oxide films on tungsten - oxygen removal and deuterium uptake

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2023
Recently we have shown that thin (33 to 55 nm) oxide films on tungsten (W) prevent deuterium (D) uptake from a low-temperature plasma (5 eV/D; 370 K; 1.4 × 1024 D/m2) into metallic W.

Deuterium isotope effect on the dissociation of weak acids in water and deuterium oxide

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section A: Physics and Chemistry, 1969
The dissociation constants of o-nitroanilinium ion, m-nitroanilinium ion, and 4-chloro-2,6-dinitrophenol in deuterium oxide at 25 °C have been determined by a spectrophotometric method, and an emf method has been used to obtain (pK 1 + pK 2)/2 for citric acid in deuterium oxide.

Aquaporin 11-Dependent Inhibition of Proliferation by Deuterium Oxide in Activated Hepatic Stellate Cells [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Deuterium oxide (D2O) has been reported to be active toward various in vitro cell lines in combination with phytochemicals. Our objective was to describe, for the first time, the effect of D2O on the proliferation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs).

Interaction of Deuterium with the Simox Oxide

open access: yesMRS Proceedings, 1998
ABSTRACTThe interaction of deuterium with silicon-implanted-with-oxygen (SIMOX) was studied for samples with and without silicon top layer using thermal desorption measurements. Deuterium is incorporated in the buried oxide by disruption of the Si-O bridging bonds. The data reveal that the top layer reduces the uptake at 1073K.

Direct observation of hydrogen and deuterium in oxide grain boundaries in corroded Zirconium alloys

open access: yesCorrosion Science, 2015
Atom probe tomography has been used to the study the distribution of hydrogen and deuterium in the oxide scale of two common zirconium alloys after autoclave testing in H2O and D2O, respectively.

Deuterium permeability of a novel AlCrTaTiZr high entropy alloy coating

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2021
AlCrTaTiZr, AlCrTaTiZr nitride, and AlCrTaTiZr oxide coatings as tritium permeation barriers (TPBs) were prepared by magnetron co-sputtering technology on a CLF-1 (RAFM) substrate, to evaluate their hydrogen/deuterium permeation resistance.
