Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

A psychophysical measurement on subjective well-being and air pollution

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Air pollution can affect people’s emotional status and well-being. Here, the authors simulate fixed-scene images to show that under the atmospheric conditions in Beijing, negative emotions occur when air quality index of PM2.5 increases to approximately ...

Microbial-assisted soil chromium immobilization through zinc and iron-enriched rice husk biochar

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Soil chromium toxicity usually caused by the tannery effluent compromises the environment and causes serious health hazards. The microbial role in strengthening biochar for its soil chromium immobilization remains largely unknown.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

The model of surface subsidence process at subsidence through formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The character of surface subsidence is different and has its peculiarities at different stages of mining operations. The process of surface subsidence is especially different in the initial period of mining lava comparing with other stages of mining ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Optimization of land use to accommodate nutritional transformation of food systems: a case study from the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems
The transformation and reconstruction of China’s food system not only faces many risks, such as the unceasing growth of food consumption on the demand side and the structural imbalance of dietary nutrition, but also must address serious challenges, such ...
