RNA Helicase DDX21 Controls CD4+ T Cell Proliferation and Promotes Inflammatory Bowel Disease via Translational Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by dysregulated T cell responses. RNA helicases, including DExD‐box helicase 21 (DDX21), are pivotal in RNA metabolism, but their role in T cell‐mediated pathology during IBD remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that DDX21 expression in CD4+ T cells correlates with cell cycle and translation ...

Improved procedures for immobilisation of oligonucleotides on gold-coated piezoelectric quartz crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The high sensitivity and specificity of DNA hybridisation techniques makes them powerful tools for environmental or clinical analysis. This work describes the development of a DNA piezoelectric biosensor for the detection of the hybridisation reaction ...

A Microbial Lipid‐ATP Synthase Axis Fuels NK Cell Antitumor Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study focuses on the mechanism by which gut microbiota‐derived outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) regulate NK cell antitumor activity. B. intestinalis is identified to decrease extra‐intestinal tumor growth via its OMVs enriched in sphingosine (SP).

Practical Guide to Using Cryoprotectants in Biological Sample Preparation at Cryogenic temperature for Electron Microscopic Studies

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Science and Technology, 2011
Cryo-fixation enables the preservation of the fine structures of intracellular organelles in a condition that is as close to their native state as possible compared with chemical fixation and room temperature processing.

Effect of temperature on production of oligosaccharides and dextran by Weissella cibaria 10 M

open access: yes, 2018
The formation of HoPS and oligosaccharides in sourdough fermentation improves bread quality but is dependent on the expression of glycansucrases by lactic acid bacteria.

Androgen Receptor‐Induced Lactoferrin Accelerates Prostate Tumorigenesis Through Modulating Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.
