Dextran: Structure and Synthesis
1961Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the structure and synthesis of dextran. The term “dextran” is used for a class of D-glucose polysaccharides produced by bacteria growing on a sucrose substrate. In this chapter, dextran will refer to those polysaccharides containing a backbone of D-glucose units linked predominantly α-D-(1→ 6).
