Continuous glucose monitoring–guided management of capivasertib‐associated hyperglycemia: A case series of three patients

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) visualized cyclic glycemic fluctuations associated with the 4‐days‐on/3‐days‐off capivasertib schedule. Compared with off‐treatment days, dosing days showed higher mean sensor glucose, greater coefficient of variation (CV), more time above 250 mg/dL, and lower time in range (TIR; 70–180 mg/dL).

Starvation Induced Euglycaemic Diabetic Ketoacidosis in a Postoperative Diabetic Patient

open access: yes, 2021
Peri-operative euglycaemic diabetic ketoacidosis is under-recognized and difficult to diagnose due to variable triggers and absence of hyperglycaemia.

A case of maturity‐onset diabetes of the young with a pathogenic HNF1A variant and a coexisting NEUROD1 variant

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Maturity‐onset diabetes of the young (MODY) accounts for at least 1%–5% of diabetes cases and is usually caused by single gene variants. Accurate diagnosis of MODY is important for effective management, especially in young individuals who are lean and lack islet autoantibodies.

Do the treatment selection factors emphasized in clinical guidelines—Chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, and heart failure—contribute to the risk of urinary tract infections during the administration of sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors?

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors (SGLT2Is) are recommended in Japan for patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD), heart failure (HF), or chronic kidney disease (CKD) due to their organ‐protective effects, leading to increased use in high‐risk populations.

Euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis: another masquerader!

open access: yes, 2019
Euglycemic ketoacidosis is defined by the triad of euglycemia, metabolic acidosis and ketonemia or ketonuria. In the current era of diabetic management, it is a serious concern with the usage of sodium glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors ...

Increased serum amyloid A and urinary kidney injury marker‐1 concentrations in cats with pyelonephritis: a diagnostic accuracy study

open access: yesJournal of Small Animal Practice, EarlyView.
Objectives To investigate the discriminatory potential of serum amyloid A, neutrophil:lymphocyte ratio, monocyte:lymphocyte ratio and assess renal tubular injury in cats with pyelonephritis. Materials and Methods Diagnostic accuracy study using samples from prospectively enrolled cats and stored material.

Tirzepatide-induced ketoacidosis in non-diabetic patients

open access: yes
Background: Tirzepatide is a novel glucagon-like peptide 1/glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide (GLP-1/GIP) receptor agonist. It was recently approved for diabetes control and weight reduction in non-diabetic patients. Case description: We report the

Effects of Oral Single‐Dose Empagliflozin on Urinary Glucose, Serum β‐Hydroxybutyrate, and Plasma Empagliflozin Concentrations in Healthy Adult Dogs

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Empagliflozin is a sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitor used for treating humans with heart failure, among other conditions. This drug could have applications in veterinary cardiology, but whether empagliflozin has biological effects in dogs when administered at dosages approximating human therapeutic dosages is unknown.
