Molecular mechanism of dietary phospholipid requirement of Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar, fry [PDF]
The phospholipid (PL) requirement in fish is revealed by enhanced performance when larvae are provided PL-enriched diets. To elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying PL requirement in Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar, were fed a minimal PL diet and ...

SYNTHESIS AND QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF THE POSITRON EMITTER RADIOTRACER 2-[18F]-FLUOROETHYLCHOLINE, A [18F]-LABELLED CHOLINE ANALOGUE FOR TUMOURS IMAGING [PDF]
Introduction: [18F]-labelled choline analogues, such as 2-[18F]-Fluoroethylcholine ( [18F]-FECH ), have suggested to be the new generation of choline derivatives for the imaging of prostate and brain tumours.

The glycerophospholipids of the ciliate protozoan Tetrahymena thermophila differ greatly in their content of alkylacylglycerol with phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, and 2-aminoethylphosphonolipid containing 60, 4, and 53% glyceryl ether, respectively.

A thraustochytrid diacylglycerol acyltransferase 2 with broad substrate specificity strongly increases oleic acid content in engineered \u3ci\u3eArabidopsis thaliana\u3c/i\u3e seeds [PDF]
Diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) catalyses the last step in acyl-CoA-dependent triacylglycerol (TAG) biosynthesis and is an important determinant of cellular oil content and quality. In this study, a gene, designated TaDGAT2, encoding a type 2 DGAT (

A colony autoradiographic assay for the sn-1,2-diacylglycerol cholinephosphotransferase activity in Saccharomyces cerevisiae was developed. Twenty-two mutants defective in cholinephosphotransferase activity were isolated. Genetic analysis revealed that all of these mutations were recessive, and three complementation groups were identified.

Diacylglycerol was generated in vitro in rat lung microsomes by forming phosphatidic acid via sn-glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase followed by the hydrolysis of the phosphatidic acid by phosphatidate phosphohydrolase. Diacylglycerol concentrations of 35 to 50 nmol/mg of microsomal protein were obtained.

The complete nucleotide sequence of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae CPT1 gene, a structural gene for the sn-1,2-diacylglycerol cholinephosphotransferase (Hjelmstad, R. H., and Bell, R. M. (1987) J. Biol. Chem. 262, 3909-3917), was determined. The 2,100-nucleotide extent of DNA sequenced contained an open reading frame encoding 407 amino acids interrupted ...

Elucidation of the Triacylglycerol Biosynthetic Pathway within the Leaves of Transgenic Tobacco Plants [PDF]
The demand for plant oils is increasing exponentially, which poses a problem as the resources required to produce plant oils are limited. In an effort to alleviate this problem, transgenic tobacco plants that are producing TAG yields of 15% by weight in ...
