Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Improved Sweat Artifact Tolerance of Screen-Printed EEG Electrodes by Material Selection-Comparison of Electrochemical Properties in Artificial Sweat

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The accurate diagnosis of sleep disorders requires an electroencephalography (EEG) recording. However, in-home EEG-based sleep monitoring has been hindered by the present cumbersome electrode systems which are impractical for patient self-application. To

A machine learning approach for differentiating malignant from benign enhancing foci on breast MRI

open access: yesEuropean Radiology Experimental, 2020
Background Differentiate malignant from benign enhancing foci on breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) through radiomic signature. Methods Forty-five enhancing foci in 45 patients were included in this retrospective study, with needle biopsy or imaging

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Radiation dose optimisation in paediatric head CT using attenuation-based auto prescription

open access: yesScientific Reports
Minimizing ionizing radiation is crucial in paediatric imaging due to children’s increased radiation sensitivity, especially at younger ages. To evaluate a CT attenuation-based Auto Prescription protocol for paediatric head imaging, testing whether it ...

Onset of granulomatosis with polyangiitis obscured by heart disease in an elderly man

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2020
We describe a case of 85-year-old man who presented to the Emergency Department with sudden dyspnea. He had a past medical history of cardiomyopathy and radiography and nonenhanced computed tomography (CT) of the chest showed pulmonary edema.

Diagnostic Imaging: Ultrasound

open access: yes, 2017
Diagnostic ultrasound imaging, particularly that which includes pulsed wave Doppler interrogation, is a safe, real-time modality by which the risk of developing preeclampsia can be refined, and the effects of established disease can be assessed. This chapter outlines the rationale and technique for Doppler interrogation of the maternal ophthalmic and ...
