Lab on a bead with oscillatory centrifugal microfluidics for fast and complete mixing enables fast and accurate biomedical assays

open access: yesScientific Reports
Rapid mixing and precise timing are key for accurate biomedical assay measurement, particularly when the result is determined as the rate of a reaction: for example rapid immunoassay in which the amount of captured target is kinetically determined ...

Extracellular vesicles from plasma have higher tumour RNA fraction than platelets

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, 2020
In addition to Circulating Tumour Cells (CTCs), cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and Extracellular Vesicles (EVs), the notion of “Tumour-Educated Platelets” (TEP) has recently emerged as a potential source of tumour-derived biomarkers accessible through blood ...

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Development and analytical performance of a new research use only (RUO) GP73 automated immunoassay

open access: yesBiochemistry and Biophysics Reports
Golgi protein 73 (GP73) is a serum marker with potential applications in the assessment of chronic liver disease progression. We developed a research use only (RUO) GP73 immunoassay to detect serum GP73 concentration.

Electro-optic bunch diagnostics on ALICE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
An electro-optic longitudinal bunch profile monitor has been implemented on ALICE (Accelerators and Lasers in Combined Experiments) at the Daresbury Laboratories and will be used both to characterise the electron bunch and to provide a testbed for ...

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

UV, optical and near-IR diagnostics of massive stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present an overview of a few spectroscopic diagnostics of massive stars. We explore the following wavelength ranges: UV (1000 to 2000 A), optical (4000--7000 A) and near-infrared (mainly H and K bands).
