Necessary and sufficient conditions for the simultaneous diagonability of two quadratic forms

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 1980
AbstractA new necessary and sufficient condition is obtained for the simultaneous diagonability of two quadratic forms in n variables. The condition is such that several known sufficient conditions can easily be derived from it.

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Partial reversibility of atomic inversion in off-resonance interaction of radiator with quantum cavity field

open access: yesMoldavian Journal of the Physical Sciences, 2008
The off-resonance effect and its influence on the reversibility between two quantum subsystems (single mode cavity field and a three-level in cascade configuration) in interaction are studied.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Localizing algebras and diagonal operators

open access: yes, 2020
The notion of a localizing algebra was introduced by Lomonosov, Radjavi, and Troitsky as a side condition to build invariant subspaces for operators on Banach spaces.

On group inverses of M-matrices with uniform diagonal entries

open access: yes, 1999
In two recent works the condition of the diagonal entries of the group inverse of a singular and irreducible M-matrix being uniform (constant) has arisen: in resistive electrical circuits and in the effect upon the Perron root of certain diagonal ...

Non-symmetric convergence and regularity

open access: yesApplied General Topology
We study regularity in quasi-convergence spaces and biconvergence spaces. We show that a notion weaker than the usually considered pairwise regularity is sufficient in important applications.

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

Emerging insights into CC and CXC chemokines and their receptors in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dual roles of CC and CXC chemokines in distinguishing active, latent, and subclinical tuberculosis were reviewed, along with an evaluation of their potential as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets to advance precision medicine in tuberculosis management. The graphical abstract was generated with AI assistance (Gemini 3.0).

Computing the Condition Number of Tridiagonal and Diagonal-Plus-Semiseparable Matrices in Linear Time

open access: yes, 2006
For an $n \times n$ tridiagonal matrix we exploit the structure of its QR factorization to devise two new algorithms for computing the 1-norm condition number in $O(n)$ operations.
