Diamine oxidase (DAO) and female sex hormones
Agents and Actions, 1986DAO activity in tissues of female guinea pigs was determined after the administration of estradiol or progesterone. Estradiol pretreatment elicited significant fall in DAO activity in the liver and specific increase in the uterus. The effect of progesterone was much less pronounced.

Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1959Abstract.If diamine oxidase is allowed to act upon the diamine putrescine, a cyclic compound, δl‐pyrroline, will be formed, which in turn reacts with o‐aminobenzaldehyde to form a yellow compound. These reactions have been taken as a starting point for a photometric method for determination of diamine oxidase.
