Abstract Background Diarrhoea in newborn calves, which occurs in the first month of life and is caused by various pathogens, poses a significant threat to livestock industries. Therefore, timely diagnosis of enteritis in calves can be advantageous. Objective This study aimed to determine the efficacy of faecal calprotectin as a biomarker indicating ...

Genetic analysis of a bovine viral diarrhea virus 2 isolate from Slovakia.
The identification and genetic characterization of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) isolate 17237 detected in western Slovakia is described. The analysis of 5'-untranslated region (5'-UTR), autoprotease (Npro) gene, and structural genes (C, Erns, E1, E2) was carried out.

In ulcerative colitis, the transcription factor KLF9 is abnormally overexpressed and inhibits TXNRD2 transcription. As a key mitochondrial antioxidant enzyme, the loss of TXNRD2 leads to disruption of mitochondrial redox homeostasis, resulting in excessive accumulation of mtROS and mitochondrial DNA damage.

ABSTRACT Background Bovine leukaemia virus (BLV) and Coxiella burnetii are important infectious pathogens of dairy cattle with potential implications for animal health, productivity and zoonotic transmission (in the case of C. burnetii). Because BLV may alter immune function, we hypothesize that infection with the virus could increase cattle ...

[Expression and characterization of 2 bovine viral diarrhea virus structural proteins (]BVDV)].
The BVDV glycoproteins gp48 and gp53 were expressed in the baculovirus eukaryotic system. Both recombinant proteins were recognized in western blot analysis by monoclonal antibodies and polyclonal serum. Immunofluorescent test demonstrated that gp53 was localized on the cell surface whereas gp48 was in the cytoplasm.

Tuning Mechanoreceptor Signaling Enhances the Adjuvant Effect of Biomaterial Vaccines
Matrix stiffness serves as an independent immunological signal in biomaterial vaccines. Stiffer microporous hydrogel vaccines enhance dendritic cell maturation and migration to draining lymph nodes, promote T follicular helper cell expansion through Yap/Taz signaling, and increase antigen‐specific antibody production.

Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.
