Balloon actuators based on the dielectric elastomer
2017 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2017In this paper, we present a theoretical and experimental study about the carrying capacity of flight dielectric elastomer (DE) balloon in electromechanical performance. This paper deals with some structures which are consist of helium balloons or air balloons based on theoretical analysis.

Modelling and Control of a Dielectric Elastomer Actuator
2018 3rd International Conference on Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics (ICARM), 2018Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) stick out among explored soft actuators due to their advantages of large deformation, high energy density, fast response and low cost. However, DEAs still are far away from robotic practical applications because of the difficulty of the actuation control.

Twisted Dielectric Elastomer stack Actuator
2016 13th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots and Ambient Intelligence (URAI), 2016The purpose of this research is to make an actuator which is easily adaptable to use as artificial muscle by improving structure of stack-type Dielectric Elastomer Actuator (DEA). In contrast with previous stack-type actuator, Single body Dielectric Elastomer stack Actuators (SDEAs) is connected as single body without external frame so that it can be ...

Hydrostatically Coupled Dielectric Elastomer Actuators
IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, 2010Within the emerging field of polymer-based mechatronics, soft materials showing intrinsic electromechanical transduction properties are being largely studied to develop new types of actuators. Among them, so-called dielectric elastomer (DE) actuators are one of the most promising.

Microrobot actuated by soft actuators based on dielectric elastomer
IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and System, 2003In this paper a microrobot, mimicking annelid animals like the earthworm, is presented. The robot is composed of several ring-like segments. Each segment is able to generate three degree-of-freedom motions such as pan/tilt/up-down respectively, and it is actuated by three soft actuators located equidistantly along the circumferential direction.

Materials for dielectric elastomer actuators
SPIE Proceedings, 2004Dielectric elastomer actuators consist of an elastomer film sandwiched between compliant electrodes. They work as electrostatic actuators: when a large electric field is applied over the electrodes, the rubber is compressed and the elastomer film elongates in the film plane.

Response of dielectric elastomer actuators
SPIE Proceedings, 2001Elastomer films sandwiched between compliant electrodes work as electrostatic actuators when a large electric field is applied over the electrodes. We have analyzed the mechanical and electrical response of actuators to a sinusoidal varying driving voltage.

A New Procedure for the Optimization of a Dielectric Elastomer Actuator
2009A novel mathematical procedure is proposed, which makes it possible to optimize lozenge-shaped dielectric-elastomer-based linear actuators for known materials and desired force/stroke requirements. Simulation results are provided which both demonstrate the efficacy of the novel procedure with respect to traditional design approaches and show that ...
