Pneumonitis following diesel fuel siphonage
Petroleum diesel is a complex mixture of liquid hydrocarbons and mainly used as fuel in transport vehicles. The practice of manual siphoning of diesel from fuel tanks is common in developing countries but hydrocarbon pneumonitis due to diesel siphonage is rarely reported.

A novel decision support system for designing and assessing phytoremediation‐to‐biofuel value chains
Abstract The design of biofuel value chains is a complex process due to the large number of stakeholders involved, seasonality in feedstock availability, security of supply, logistics costs, efficiency considerations, and its multi‐node nature. Decisions on designing phytoremediation‐to‐biofuel value chains are even more complicated, due to the ...

Emissions from a HGV Using Used Cooking Oil as a Fuel under Real World Driving Conditions [PDF]
To maximize CO2 reduction, refined straight used cooking oils were used as a fuel in Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in this research. The fuel is called C2G Ultra Biofuel (C2G: Convert to Green Ltd) and is a fully renewable fuel made as a diesel replacement

Mobilizing mine lands for biobased decarbonization strategies
Abstract Over 163 000 ha of mine lands in Pennsylvania (PA) have the potential to produce willow as a feedstock for renewable energy generation. Each year these lands could produce between 454 000 and 907 000 dry Mg of willow, which can be a feedstock for bioenergy (i.e., biopower) with carbon capture and sequestration (BECCS) or sustainable aviation ...

Coal-fueled diesel technology development -- Fuel injection equipment for coal-fueled diesel engines [PDF]
Because of the abrasive and corrosive nature of coal water slurries, the development of coal-fueled diesel engine technology by GE-Transportation Systems (GE-TS) required special fuel injection equipment. GE-Corporate Research and Development (GE-CRD) undertook the design and development of fuel injectors, piston pumps, and check valves for this ...

Abstract Biofuels undergo oxidative degradation, which reduces their storage stability and efficiency, hindering their large‐scale adoption and integration into the global energy matrix. To address this issue, we synthesized and characterized four novel quinolinone–chalcone derivatives (substituted with Br, Cl, OCH3 and OCH2CH3) as potential ...

Using alcohol fuels in dual fuel operation of compression ignition engines: a review [PDF]
Because of global warming and increasing air pollution, alternative fuels are increasingly being considered for use in internal combustion engines (ICEs). Among the alternatives, alcohol fuels seem very interesting.
