Dietary Protein and Blood Pressure

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Hypertension. Part A: Theory and Practice, 1985
Vegetarians have lower blood pressures than omnivores. Dietary protein may be partly responsible. Human volunteers, whose normal diet contained little soya protein, were given soya based foods to replace some of the meat in their diet. During this period over 20% of the total protein intake was derived from soya, however blood pressures remained ...

Quantifying the Digestibility of Dietary Protein [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Nutrition, 2000
The current recommendation, when calculating a protein digestibility-corrected amino acid score, is to determine the digestibility of a dietary protein across the entire digestive tract, using the rat as a model animal for humans. This fecal digestibility value is subsequently corrected for endogenous contributions of protein using a metabolic nitrogen

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Management of erectile dysfunction with a novel orodispersible formulation of the PDE-5 inhibitor vardenafil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a medical condition which can affect men of all ages. As men live longer and the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and diabetes continue to increase, the problem of ED will become more prominent.

Dietary Maillard reaction products: implications for human health and disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
When foods are heat processed, the sugars and lipids react with the proteins they contain via the Maillard and related reactions to form a wide range of products.

A Comprehensive Survey of Image-Based Food Recognition and Volume Estimation Methods for Dietary Assessment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Dietary studies showed that dietary-related problem such as obesity is associated with other chronic diseases like hypertension, irregular blood sugar levels, and increased risk of heart attacks. The primary cause of these problems is poor lifestyle choices and unhealthy dietary habits, which are manageable using interactive mHealth apps.

Determination of True Digestibility of Dietary Proteins in Carp with Cr2O3 Containing-Diet

open access: yes, 1974
It is a laborious and time-consuming procedure to estimate the true digestibility of dietary proteins in fish by the ordinary digestion trial. In the present study, a diet containing chromic oxide as an indicator was used for determining the metabolic ...

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Vibrio cholerae ensures function of host proteins required for virulence through consumption of luminal methionine sulfoxide. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2017
Vibrio cholerae is a diarrheal pathogen that induces accumulation of lipid droplets in enterocytes, leading to lethal infection of the model host Drosophila melanogaster. Through untargeted lipidomics, we provide evidence that this process is the product
