Animals each received four IP injections of 1.5 or 3.0 micrograms DEN/g body weight.

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1977The effect of norepinephine, an adrenomietic drug, and of pyrroxane, its antagonist, on diethylnitrosoamine (DENA) hepatocarcinogenesis was studied in albino rats. Norepinephrine was found to stimulate carcinogenesis, whereas pyrroxane--to inhibit this process; the latter drug decreased the incidence of multicentric tumours of the liver.

Purine bases were fractionated by h.p.l.c., and ethylated guanines were quantified optically by fluorescence spectrophotometry.

Comparative Mutagenicity of Dimethylnitrosamine and Diethylnitrosamine
1981The dialkyl nitrosamines, of which dimethylnitrosamine and diethylnitrosamine are good examples, belong to the larger class of N-nitroso compounds, many of which are potent carcinogens in a large variety of animal species. In 1954 Barnes and Magee (1) demonstrated that dimethylnitrosamine was acutely hepatotoxic to laboratory animals.
