Effect of diazepam on microsomal diethylnitrosamine metabolism in gerbils
Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology, 1982Dealkylation of diethylnitrosamine (DEN) by a liver microsomal fraction was measured after treatment of the Mongolian gerbil with DEN, Valium, or DEN plus Valium. Valium-dosed male and female animals showed strongly stimulated deethylase levels compared with the controls. This was also true of the DEN-treated females.

Neferine suppresses diethylnitrosamine-induced lung carcinogenesis in Wistar rats.
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2019Neferine is a bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid isolated from the embryos of lotus which has attracted attention for its anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activities.

The present study investigated the impact of coexposure to fluoride and diethylnitrosamine (DEN) on hepatorenal function in adult rats. The animals were exposed to fluoride (15 mg/L in drinking water) and DEN (10 mg/kg) singly or coexposed to both ...

Carcinomas of the esophagus in rats ingesting diethylnitrosamine
European Journal of Cancer (1965), 1975Abstract Buffalo strain male and female rats 12 weeks of age ingested 0·0114% diethylnitrosamine (DEN) in the diet for 26 weeks and were returned to the basal diet without DEN for the remainder of the experiment. Rats survived an average of 28 weeks.

Effects of butylated hydroxytoluene alone or with diethylnitrosamine in mice
Food and Cosmetics Toxicology, 1974Abstract Mice (18 months old) given butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) at a dietary level of 0·75% for 16 months had 63·6% of lung tumours compared with 24·0% in controls. Mice given dietary BHT as well as diethylnitrosamine (DENA) in the drinking-water (average total intake 330 mg DENA/kg) had more lung tumours per mouse (4·0) than did the controls or ...

Temporal Advancement of Diethylnitrosamine Carcinogenesis in Aging Mice
Journal of Gerontology, 1981Female BALB/c mice were given diethylnitrosamine (DEN) in their drinking water beginning at 2.5, 9.5, and 17 months of age (cumulative dose approximately 300 to 400 mg/kg body weight) or were untreated. Median times of death for the treatment groups were 193, 168, and 125 days, respectively, after cessation of DEN treatment and were significantly ...

Ferritin is increased in diethylnitrosamine - altered rat hepatocytes
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1981Abstract Ferritin was localized by immunoperoxidase in rat liver during the early stages of experimental carcinogenesis induced by diethylnitrosamine. Carcinogen - altered hepatocytes, indentified by their reduction in membrane-bound ATPase activity, showed a highly elevated content in ferritin (or ferritin subunits), compared to normal hepatocytes ...
