mRNA expression in different developmental stages of the chicken bursa of Fabricius

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2016
The bursa of Fabricius, the central humoral immune organ unique to birds, plays an important role in B-lymphocyte differentiation. In order to gain a better understanding of the molecular mechanism of critical biological processes like B-cell immigration, differentiation, and final emigration, the transcriptional changes during embryonic and posthatch ...

Expression profiles of S5a and S5b bHLH genes at different fiber developmental stages.

open access: yes, 2015
Relative transcript levels of 10 S5a and S5b bHLH genes at different fiber developmental stages in upland cotton were detected by qRT-PCR. DPA, day(s) post anthesis.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Exploring uptake and biodistribution of polystyrene (nano)particles in zebrafish embryos at different developmental stages.

open access: yesAquatic Toxicology, 2017
In ecotoxicology, it is continuously questioned whether (nano)particle exposure results in particle uptake and subsequent biodistribution or if particles adsorb to the epithelial layer only.

Assessing the Sensitivity of Different Life Stages for Sexual Disruption in Roach (Rutilus rutilus) Exposed to Effluents from Wastewater Treatment Works

open access: yes, 2005
Surveys of U.K. rivers have shown a high incidence of sexual disruption in populations of wild roach (Rutilus rutilus) living downstream from wastewater treatment works (WwTW), and the degree of intersex (gonads containing both male and female structural

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Responses of water use in Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys heterocycla) culms of different developmental stages to manipulative drought

open access: yesForest Ecosystems, 2019
BackgroundUnderstanding the mechanisms underlying plant water use in response to drought is critical to predicting the trend of ecosystem development under a changing environment, while the responses of water use in clonal plants with interconnected ...
