Limitations of Differential Display
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1998Since its original description, differential display PCR (DD-PCR) has been extensively used in attempts to identify novel genes under a variety of circumstances. Despite its widespread use, however, few novel genes of interest have been identified.

Differential display in the time of microarrays
Expert Review of Molecular Diagnostics, 2002A brief overview of major methods used for genome-wide expression profiling is presented. Special attention is devoted to ordered differential display, subtractive hybridization and DNA microarrays. Future prospects of comparative gene expression studies using combinations of differential display methods and microarray technology are outlined.

Trouble with differential display
Trends in Biotechnology, 2002Differential Display. Edited by Ronald A. Leslie and Harold A. Robertson. Oxford University Press, 2000. US$ 115.00 (hbk) (274 pages) ISBN 0 19 9637598 XDifferential display (DD) is a well-developed method for comparative cDNA expression studies. Its advantages and limitations have been widely discussed both in periodic publications and books.

Characterization of regulated gene expression in eukaryotic cells is essential for studying cell growth and differentiation as well as for understanding the molecular mechanisms of diseases. Differential display was developed for such comparative studies by allowing a systematic and nonbiased screening for molecular differences at the level of mRNA ...

Differential display reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (DDRT-PCR) is an extremely powerful method for analyzing differences in gene expression between matched tissue/cell samples. Liang and Pardee originally described the technique in 1992 in their seminal paper (1). DDRT-PCR is now firmly established as a widespread powerful and commonly
