Vehicle steering intervention through differential braking
Proceedings of 1995 American Control Conference - ACC'95, 1998This paper examines the usefulness of a brake steer system (BSS) which uses differential brake forces for steering intervention in the context of Intelligent Transportation Systems. The resulting moment on the vehicle affects yaw rate and lateral position, thereby providing a limited steering function.

Oscillation steers differentiation
Cell Stem CellThe differentiation trajectories defining enteroendocrine (EE) cell heterogeneity remain obscure. In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Singh et al.1 map the differentiation landscape of EE cells, identifying early oscillating cell progenitor states, which play a critical role in generating terminal EE cell diversity.

Steering pluripotency and differentiation with N6-methyladenosine RNA modification
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Regulatory Mechanisms, 2019Chemical modifications of RNA provide a direct and rapid way to modulate the existing transcriptome, allowing the cells to adapt rapidly to the changing environment. Among these modifications, N6-methyladenosine (m6A) has recently emerged as a widely prevalent mark of messenger RNA in eukaryotes, linking external stimuli to an intricate network of ...

On the Tracking Control of Differentially Steered Wheeled Mobile Robots
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1997Fundamental tracking control algorithms of a differentially steered wheeled mobile robot with two conventional driven wheels are studied through analyzing the robot’s inherent kinematics. This includes the tracking variable assignment as well as the tracking singularity and position-orientation tracking decoupling problems. Globally convergent tracking

Autonomous Evasive Steering with Differential Braking Backup
2020 20th International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems (ICCAS), 2020Every today’s vehicle is equipped with four independent brakes. When well-coordinated, these brakes can decelerate the vehicle and at the same time help control its yaw rate. This paper focuses on the use of this feature as a backup for autonomous evasive steering in severe situations.

Modeling the Dynamics of Vehicles with Differential-speed Steering
Transactions of the ASAE, 1996The directional dynamics of windrowers and similar vehicles with differential-speed steering was investigated. A mathematical model representing fore-and-aft motion, lateral motion, and yaw motion was developed. The simulation language ACSL was used to run the model with various values for basic vehicle parameters. The model was used to investigate the

Modelling and control of a new differential steering concept
Vehicle System Dynamics, 2018This paper presents a new steer-by-wire concept using an all-wheel drive vehicle layout with in-wheel motors while completely omitting the application of any dedicated steering device.

Differential Torque Steering for Future Combat Vehicles
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1999<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper discusses the evolution of skid steer systems, and takes a new look at the advantages and implications of designing future ground combat vehicles with all non-steerable wheels. The traditional “skid steer” designation of such vehicles is dropped in favor of the more descriptive phrase “differential ...

Research on Electric Differential for Steering Electric Vehicles
2012Without traditional mechanical differentials, electric vehicles need electric differentials to avoid slipping. This paper proposed a novel electric differential control strategy to solve the problem. According to the given speed and road conditions, target slip ratios can be calculated.
