Steering Study of Linear Differential Microphone Arrays
IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing, 2021Differential microphone arrays (DMAs) can achieve high directivity and frequency-invariant spatial response with small apertures; they also have a great potential to be used in a wide spectrum of applications for high-fidelity sound acquisition. Although many efforts have been made to address the design of linear DMAs (LDMAs), most developed methods so

Energy Efficient Pivot Steering Control of Differential Steering Vehicle
2020 3rd International Conference on Robotics, Control and Automation Engineering (RCAE), 2020The differential steering vehicle (DSV) is designed to realize pivot steering (PS) as enhance structural robustness. Lacking steering systems, the DSV steers until the differential moment generated by longitudinal force counteracts the resistive moment produced by lateral force, resulting in excessive energy consumption.

Autonomous Evasive Steering with Differential Braking Backup
2020 20th International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems (ICCAS), 2020Every today’s vehicle is equipped with four independent brakes. When well-coordinated, these brakes can decelerate the vehicle and at the same time help control its yaw rate. This paper focuses on the use of this feature as a backup for autonomous evasive steering in severe situations.

Vehicle steering intervention through differential braking
Proceedings of 1995 American Control Conference - ACC'95, 1998This paper examines the usefulness of a brake steer system (BSS) which uses differential brake forces for steering intervention in the context of Intelligent Transportation Systems. The resulting moment on the vehicle affects yaw rate and lateral position, thereby providing a limited steering function.

Differential Torque Steering for Future Combat Vehicles
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1999<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper discusses the evolution of skid steer systems, and takes a new look at the advantages and implications of designing future ground combat vehicles with all non-steerable wheels. The traditional “skid steer” designation of such vehicles is dropped in favor of the more descriptive phrase “differential ...

Bio‐inspired Micropatterned Platform to Steer Stem Cell Differentiation
Small, 20111–4 ] Nevertheless, ineffi cient and uncontrolled differentiation along defi ned lineages as well as a lack of understanding of the microenvironmental cues that bring about homeostatic regulation severely restrict their therapeutic applications. To realize the full potential of stem cells, determinative strate-gies to control their differentiation are ...

Oscillation steers differentiation
Cell Stem CellThe differentiation trajectories defining enteroendocrine (EE) cell heterogeneity remain obscure. In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Singh et al.1 map the differentiation landscape of EE cells, identifying early oscillating cell progenitor states, which play a critical role in generating terminal EE cell diversity.

Steering pluripotency and differentiation with N6-methyladenosine RNA modification
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Gene Regulatory Mechanisms, 2019Chemical modifications of RNA provide a direct and rapid way to modulate the existing transcriptome, allowing the cells to adapt rapidly to the changing environment. Among these modifications, N6-methyladenosine (m6A) has recently emerged as a widely prevalent mark of messenger RNA in eukaryotes, linking external stimuli to an intricate network of ...

A planar electric vehicle with differential steering and a plantar command
2011 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2011This paper focuses on a new electric and compact vehicle with a differential steering and a sensitive plantar as driving command. The mechanical, electronic and software architecture are presented. A special focus is given to the sensitive surface of the vehicle chassis which allows the user to drive the vehicle by unbalancing his or her center-of ...
