Pediatric High-Grade Gliomas and Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas

Pediatric high-grade gliomas represent approximately 10% of all pediatric brain tumors. Similar to adult high-grade gliomas, they behave very aggressively, and these children have a very poor prognosis despite a variety of therapies that include chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

High-Grade Glioma, Including Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma

High-grade gliomas (HGG), including anaplastic astrocytoma and glioblastoma, are diffusely infiltrating, malignant tumors of the central nervous system. HGG may arise at any age and, with rare exceptions, are uniformly fatal despite aggressive multimodal therapies including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
