Effect of Enzymes of Microbial Origin on in vitro Digestibilities of Dry Matter and Crude Protein in Maize

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2003
The effects of supplementation of cellulase, xylanase, pectinase, hemicellulase, glucanase, phytase and protease of microbial origins on digestibilities of crude protein (CP) and dry matter (DM) of maize in vitro were examined in the present study ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Evaluation of Apparent Nutrient Digestibility of Novel and Conventional Feed Ingredients in Sobaity Seabream (Sparidentex hasta) for Sustainable Aquaculture

open access: yesFishes
This study aimed to evaluate the apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) for nutrients and energy of seven conventional and alternative feed ingredients (poultry feather meal, fermented feather meal, mealworm meal, defatted black soldier fly ...

Herbage Yield and Quality of Two Vegetative Parts of Indigofera at Different Times of First Regrowth Defoliation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A field experiment using Indigofera sp. was conducted at the Farm Research Station of Faculty of Animal Science, Bogor Agricultural University, Darmaga Campus, during 2008-2009. The objectives of this study were to identify the effect of defoliation time

Dried chicory root (Cichorium intybus L.) as a natural fructan source in rabbit diet: effects on growth performance, digestion and caecal and carcass traits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
[EN] Three experimental diets were formulated including (per kg) 100 g oats (control diet), 50 g chicory root (Chicory 5 diet) or 100 g chicory root (Chicory 10 diet) at the expense of oats. The diets differed with respect to starch and fructan contents.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Phenolic content of honey reduces in vitro starch digestibility

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2016
The starch digestibility of foods containing honey, as a function of honey's phenolic content was evaluated. We have evaluated the in vitro digestibility of starch from potato when added to honey.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Protein and amino acid digestibility: definitions and conventional oro-ileal determination in humans

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
When assessing protein quality, a correction needs to be made to take into consideration the availability of the amino acids. This correction is based on the digestibility of the amino acids.

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.
