Application of digital image correlation (DIC) for tracking deformations of paintings on canvas [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2011
A non-invasive and non-contact optical method for tracking overall and local deformations of canvas painting is presented. The technique was tested on a model painting on canvas with inhomogeneities introduced by infilling gaps, mending tears, and applying patches on the reverse of the canvas.

An open-source digital image correlation acquisition system, focusing on temporal synchronization with the Gleeble 3800 [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
Current commercial digital image correlation (DIC) systems offer limited versatility, particularly with regards to integrating DIC and thermal imaging on the Gleeble 3800, and are also often financially prohibitive. On the other hand, current open-source

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.
