Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Space-time-coding digital metasurfaces [PDF]
AbstractThe recently proposed digital coding metasurfaces make it possible to control electromagnetic (EM) waves in real time, and allow the implementation of many different functionalities in a programmable way. However, current configurations are only space-encoded, and do not exploit the temporal dimension. Here, we propose a general theory of space-

In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

Continuous digitization in Khalimsky spaces
Multivariate functions are approximated by mappings defined on an integer grid in \(n\) dimensions. The approach is constructive and certain hyperplanes are defined which are embedded in \(\mathbb Z^{n+1}\). The method is useful in computer imaging, where digital curves and digital surfaces for instance are required. The approximation properties of the

Research in fractured digital spaces [PDF]
The internet is a medium for research, a place for the exchange of drugs and knowledge, and a method for governing and surveilling drug users. Opportunities for drug research with and in digital spaces are expanding, using internet mediated methods such as online surveys, web scraping, and research with web communities and users of cryptomarkets and ...
