The enzymes of phospholipid synthesis in Clostridium butyricum
We have examined extracts of Clostridium butyricum for several enzymes of phospholipid synthesis. Membrane particles were shown to catalyze the formation of CDP-diglyceride from [3H]CTP and phosphatidic acid.

Biosynthesis of phosphatidylcholine by enzyme preparations from spinach leaves
The enzymic incorporation of choline-1,2-14C from CDP-choline-1,2-14C into phosphatidylcholine by spinach leaf preparations was characterized. The enzyme catalyzing the incorporation, choline phosphotransferase, had a pH optimum of about 8.0 and required ...

The diglyceride kinase of rat cerebral cortex [PDF]
1. Formation of phosphatidic acid by diglyceride kinase (EC 2.7.1.-) in the presence of ATP and Mg2+ was shown in a homogenate and subcellular fractions of rat cerebral cortex. 2. The kinase was activated by Mg2+. Ca2+ activated to a smaller extent but was inhibitory in the presence of optimum concentration of Mg2+.

Characterization of the extracellular lipase of Bacillus subtilis and its relationship to a membrane-bound lipase found in a mutant strain [PDF]
Bacillus subtilis CMK33 is a mutant that is more osmotically fragile than the wild type when it is converted to the protoplast form. The protoplasts of this mutant contain a membrane-bound lipase, which is not found in protoplasts of the wild type ...

Rhodobacter veldkampii, a new species of phototrophic purple nonsulfur bacteria [PDF]
We describe a new species of purple nonsulfur bacteria, which has the ability to grow under photoautotrophic growth conditions with sulfide as an electron donor and shows the characteristic properties of Rhodobacter species (i.e., ovoid to rod-shaped ...

ABSTRACT This study explored fasting‐induced physiological remodeling effects on meat quality in aged laying hens. Fasting for 15 days (F15) significantly reduced abdominal fat, intermuscular fat width, subcutaneous fat thickness, and liver index versus pre‐fasting (F0) (p < 0.05), which recovered post‐refeeding.

Charge Inversion of Phospholipids by Dimetal Complexes for Positive Ion-Mode Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry Analysis [PDF]
Phospholipids are vital constituents of living cells, as they are involved in signaling and membrane formation. Mass spectrometry analysis of many phospholipids is preferentially performed in the negative ion-mode because of their acidic nature.
