Coumarin 1,4-Dihydropyridine Derivatives
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 1998A series of 1,4-dihydropyridines bearing a coumarin moiety in 4-position was synthesized. The compounds were evaluated for inotropic, chronotropic and calcium antagonist activities. The replacement of the o-nitrophenyl moiety of nifedipine with a coumarin or phenylcoumarin system is accompanied by a decrease of the activity on myocardial and vascular ...

(Trihalogenmethyl)dihydropyridine

Dihydropyridines on guinea-pig ileum
General Pharmacology: The Vascular System, 19901. The effects of three dihydropyridine derivates were studied and compared with those of nifedipine in guinea-pig ileum. 2. Nifedipine, nimodipine, nitrendipine (25-200 nM) and nisoldipine (10-80 nM) produced a dose-dependent inhibition of the contractile responses induced by single pulse stimulation, acetylcholine (1 microM) and high-K (50 mM).

Antioxidant activity of different dihydropyridines
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2003Lacidipine, a dihydropyridine-based calcium antagonist (DHP), has already been demonstrated to possess antioxidant activity and to reduce the intracellular production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). To verify if this effect is a peculiarity of this molecule, or belongs to other DHPs, the activity of lacidipine was compared with those of amlodipine ...

Antihypertensive dihydropyridines with 1,4,4-trisubstitution
Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1990Dihydropyridines with 1,4,4-trisubstitution were synthesized and tested for antihypertensive activity in a spontaneously hypertensive rat model. This substitution pattern on the dihydropyridine nucleus differs markedly from that found most active in the structure-activity relationship established for nifedipine-like compounds.

1,4-Dihydropyridines and the 1,4-Dihydropyridine Receptor
1993The 1,4-dihydropyridine nifedipine is a first-generation drug of major significance in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders including hypertension, peripheral vascular disorders and angina in its several forms. Nifedipine is one of a chemically and pharmacologically heterogeneous group of drugs that includes also verapamil and diltiazem and which ...
