The action of L‐dihydroxyphenylalanine in patients receiving nialamide

Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1965
Nialamide produces effective monamine oxidase inhibition resulting in a three‐ to fivefold increase in tryptamine excretion when administered in a dose of 100 mg. for 10 days. L‐Dihydroxyphenylalanine, given in a dose of 75 to 100 mg. to normal volunteers receiving nialamide in a dose of 100 mg.

Stability of collagen in the presence of 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA)

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 2009
Many cross-linking agents for collagen are available with varying levels of toxicity and some are in use in biomedical implants of collagen. L-DOPA (3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine), a neurotransmitter, is a naturally present compound in the living system and is the target in therapeutic strategy of Parkinson's disease.

A method for the determination of 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA) in brain

Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of Pharmacology, 1972
The method is an extension of the chromatographic separation procedure for 5-HIAA and 5-HTP published by Lindqvist (1971). Brain tissue is extracted with perchloric acid. After adjustment of the pH to 2 the extract is passed through a Dowex 50W, X-4 column.

ADMINISTRATION OF DIHYDROXYPHENYLALANINE TO PARKINSONIAN PATIENTS.

Canadian Medical Association journal, 1996
Dihydroxyphenylalanine (dopa), the metabolic precursor of dopamine, was administered to 10 parkinsonian patients in oral doses of 1-5 g. and intravenous doses of 0.2-0.5 g. Increases in dopamine excretion of 100- to 1000-fold following the dopa administration indicated that dopa was being absorbed and metabolized. Only two of the 10 patients showed any
