The reaction of maleic anhydride with dimedone
Journal of the Chemical Society C: Organic, 1968Two compounds arising from the acid-catalysed condensation of maleic anhydride with dimedone are 3-carboxymethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4-hydroxy-7,7-dimethyl-5-oxonaphthalene-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride (4) and α-(4,4-dimethyl-2,6-dioxocyclohexyl)succinic acid (8).

Non-cytotoxic Dimedone Derivatives: Structure, Antiradical and UV Protective Studies
Drug Research, 2013Dimedone derivatives (L1-L4) with methyl substitution at the ortho, para and meta positions were synthesized and their anti-radical, photoreactive and photostability activities were evaluated. All compounds are characterized by spectroscopic techniques and by single crystal X ray diffraction.

Relationship Between Dimedone Concentration and Formaldehyde Captured in Plant Tissues
Acta Biologica Hungarica, 1998In different parts of water-melon plants (Citrullus vulgaris L.) formaldehyde (HCHO), in dimedone adduct form (formaldemethone), and fully N-methylated substances were identified and determined by OPLC as well as HPLC, capillary GC and GC-MS methods using authentic substances.

High-pressure X-ray diffraction study of dimedone
High Pressure Research, 1991Abstract Dimedone (i.e. 5.5-dimethyl-I,3-cyclohexanedione) crystals, C8HI12O2, have been studied at high pressures by X-ray diffraction using a Merrill-Bassett diamond-anvil cell. The unit-cell dimensions have been measured to 1.20(5) GPa and the structure has been determined at 0.95(5) GPa.
