Resonating valence-bond physics on the honeycomb lattice

open access: yes, 2014
We study bond and spin correlations of the nearest-neighbour resonating valence bond (RVB) wavefunction for a SU($2$) symmetric $S=1/2$ antiferromagnet on the honeycomb lattice.

Atom-dimer and dimer-dimer scatterings in a spin-orbit-coupled Fermi gas

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2021
Using the diagrammatic approach, here we study how spin-orbit coupling (SOC) affects the fermion-dimer and dimer-dimer scattering lengths in the Born approximation, and benchmark their accuracy with the higher-order approximations. We consider both isotropic and Rashba couplings in three dimensions, and show that the Born approximation gives accurate ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Et2NH2C6H3(CO2)3SnBr2.4H2O: SYNTHESIS AND INFRARED STUDY

open access: yesScientific Study & Research: Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Industry, 2014
The title compound has been obtained on allowing [C6H3(CO2)3(Et2NH2)3] to react with SnBr4. The molecular structure of Et2NH2C6H3(CO2)3SnBr2.4H2O has been determined on the basis of the infrared data.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Dynamics of the quantum dimer model on the triangular lattice: Soft modes and local resonating valence-bond correlations

open access: yes, 2006
We report on an exhaustive investigation of the dynamical dimer-dimer correlations in imaginary time for the quantum dimer model on the triangular lattice using the Green's function Monte Carlo method.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Exact asymptotics of monomer-dimer model on rectangular semi-infinite lattices

open access: yes, 2006
By using the asymptotic theory of Pemantle and Wilson, exact asymptotic expansions of the free energy of the monomer-dimer model on rectangular $n \times \infty$ lattices in terms of dimer density are obtained for small values of $n$, at both high and ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
