Production of dinophysistoxin-1 and pectenotoxin-2 by a culture of Dinophysis acuminata (Dinophyceae)

Harmful Algae, 2009
Abstract The production of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning toxins (okadaic acid analogues and other lipophilic toxins) by a culture of Dinophysis acuminata, fed with the autotrophic ciliate Myrionecta rubra, was confirmed by LC–MS analysis, and the toxin profile compared with that in the field assemblage of the same species.

Promotion of BALB/3T3 Cell Transformation by the Okadaic Acid Class of Tumor Promoters, Okadaic Acid and Dinophysistoxin-1 [PDF]

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Cancer Research, 1991
Okadaic acid and dinophysistoxin‐1 are non‐12‐O‐tetradecanoylphorbol‐13‐acetate (non‐TPA)‐type tumor promoters, which enhance chemically induced tumorigenesis on mouse skin through a different mechanism from that of TPA. In the present study, we examined the promoting effects of these okadaic acid class tumor promoters on a two‐stage transformation ...

Studies on the biosynthesis of the polyether marine toxin dinophysistoxin-1 (DTX-1)

Tetrahedron Letters, 1994
Abstract The biosynthetic origin of DTX-1 is establish on the basis of the NMR spectral data of samples obtained by addition of labelled [1- 13 C 1 ], [2- 13 C 1 ] and [1,2- 13 C 2 ] sodium acetate to artificial cultures of the dinoflagellate Prorocentrum lima.

Liquid chromatographic determination of okadaic acid and dinophysistoxin-1 in shellfish after derivatization with 9-chloromethylanthracene

Journal of Chromatography A, 1996
The reagent 9-chloromethylanthracene was evaluated for derivatization of the diarrhetic shellfish poisons, okadaic acid and dinophysistoxin-1 (DTX-1), to form fluorescent products separable by liquid chromatography. The toxins were reacted with the reagent in acetonitrile in the presence of tetramethylammonium hydroxide for 1 h at 90 degrees C.

First evidence of Dinophysistoxin-1 ester and carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in smoked bivalves collected in the Patagonia fjords

open access: yesToxicon, 2004
Diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (DSP) is a gastrointestinal disease caused by fat-soluble polyether toxins produced by dinoflagellates and accumulated in shellfish. Up to the present, only four fat-soluble polyethers have been known as diarrhetic shellfish toxins.

Evaluation of okadaic acid, dinophysistoxin-1 and dinophysistoxin-2 toxicity on Neuro-2a, NG108-15 and MCF-7 cell lines

Toxicology in Vitro, 2015
Marine dinoflagelates from the genus Dynophisis are important producers of Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning (DSP) toxins which are responsible for human intoxications. The present work is an approach to study the relative toxicity of DSP toxins effects on Neuro-2a, NG108-15 and MCF-7 cell-lines. Certified standards of okadaic acid (OA), dinophysistoxin-1

The effects of the diarrhetic shellfish poisoning toxins, okadaic acid and dinophysistoxin-1, on the growth of microalgae

Marine Biology, 1996
The diarrhetic shellfish poisoning toxins okadaic acid (OA) and dinophysistoxin-1 (DTX-1) are potent phosphatase inhibitors produced by certain species of marine dinoflagellates. OA can cause hyperphosphorylation of a broad range of animal and higherpalnt proteins, but little is known regarding the effects of the DSP toxins on marine organisms or their

Determination of Okadaic Acid and Dinophysistoxins-1 in Mussel by Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
A liquid chromatography-tandem mass Spectrometric method for the determination of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning including okadaic acid(OA) and dinophysistoxins-1(DTX-1) in mussel. After being extracted using methanol and water(80:20,V/V),The solution was defatted with n-hexane and extracted in chloroform.

Determination of Okadaic Acid and Dinophysistoxin-1 in Mussels by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry

Analytical Letters, 2014
Food poisoning may occur due to ingestion of shellfish contaminated by okadaic acid or dinophysistoxin-1 from toxic dinoflagellates. A rapid and simple method for the determination of okadaic acid and dinophysistoxin-1 is needed to identify food poisoning sources.

Confirmation of okadaic acid, dinophysistoxin-1 and dinophysistoxin-2 in shellfish as their anthrylmethyl derivatives using UV radiation

Journal of Chromatography A, 2005
A rapid and simple method for confirmation of the diarrhetic shellfish poisons (DSP): okadaic acid (OA), dinophysistoxin-1 (DTX-1) and dinophysistoxin-2 (DTX-2) using fluorescence detection following derivatization with 9-chloromethylanthracene, has been established as an alternate to LC/MS.
