The Effect of Anthocyanins from Dioscorea alata L. on Antioxidant Properties of Perinatal Hainan Black Goats and Its Possible Mechanism in the Mammary Gland

open access: yesAnimals, 2022
(1) Background: The mammary glands of the perinatal goats are susceptible to reactive oxygen species (ROS) leading to oxidative injury. Although Dioscorea alata L.

Forage Species and Nutrition Among Reintroduced Banteng (Bos javanicus d'Alton, 1823) in Salakphra Wildlife Sanctuary and Khao Kiew–Khao Chompoo Wildlife Sanctuary, Thailand

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Dietary management is an important factor affecting the health and survival of critically endangered wildlife. The natural habitat showed a significant seasonal difference which was also higher than in introduced habitat. Reintroduced banteng exhibit dietary flexibility and adaptability to different natural habitats.

Comparative Study of the Physicochemical, Functional, Thermal, and Rheological Properties of Pretreated Flours From Dioscorea alata and Dioscorea rotundata

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
Pretreatments help improve flour quality. The increase in solubility and dispersibility is greater in D. rotundata. D. alata flours are more resistant to shear than D. rotundata flours. All flours degrade after 200°C. D. alata flours are more elastic while D. rotundata flours are more viscous.

OBTENCIÓN DE JARABES DE FRUCTOSA A PARTIR DE HIDROLIZADOS ENZIMÁTICOS DE ALMIDÓN DE ÑAME (Dioscorea alata y Dioscorea rotundata) FRUCTOSE SYRUP OBTENTION FROM ENZYMATIC HYDROLYSED OF YAM STARCH (Dioscorea alata and Dioscorea rotundata)

open access: yesVitae, 2010
En este trabajo se evaluó el rendimiento de la producción de jarabes de fructosa a partir del almidón extraído de dos especies de ñame (Dioscorea alata var. Diamante y Dioscorea rotundata var. Espino).

Ethephon Promotes Sprouting and Increases Vigor in Yam Seed‐Tubers

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Crop and Horticultural Science, Volume 54, Issue 1, March 2026.
The yam (Dioscorea alata L.) is of social and economic relevance for small farmers in Northeast Brazil, but its cultivation is hindered by the low quality of propagative material and a long dormancy period exceeding 90 days. This study evaluated the effect of Ethephon doses and different tuber segments of the São Tomé variety on sprouting and seedling ...

REACCIÓN DE GENOTIPOS DE ÑAME (Dioscorea spp) A LA ANTRACNOSIS (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides)

open access: yesTemas Agrarios, 2013

Characterization of the Omnivorous Lygus lineolaris Diet in a Strawberry Field by Metataxonomy

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study employs metataxonomy to reveal the extensive omnivorous diet of Lygus lineolaris in a strawberry field, identifying 475 host taxa and confirming active ingestion across plant and prey sources. We introduce a novel coefficient of omnivory, demonstrating the species' strong herbivorous bias while highlighting its dietary flexibility and ...

Control of Dioscorea alata microtuber dormancy and germination by jasmonic acid

open access: yesPlant Growth Regulation, 1999
Effects of appling exogenous jasmonic acid (JA) on the germination of Dioscorea alata L. microtubers were examined on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium. Microtuber germination was promoted by JA (0.1 and 1 μM) supplemented to the culture medium but higher concentrations (30 and 100 μM) completely inhibited germination.

Extraction and Comprehensive Characterization of Starch From Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) Seeds as a Non‐Conventional Source

open access: yesStarch - Stärke, Volume 78, Issue 1, January 2026.
A native starch was extracted from ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.), yielding a high‐purity product with a significant starch content. The starch exhibited type A and V crystallinity, with a mean particle size (D50) ~7 nm, high swelling power, and low retrogradation tendency.
