Therapeutic effects of diosgenin in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis
Journal of Neuroimmunology, 2017Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. Currently, there is no drug available to cure this kind of disease. Diosgenin is a plant-derived steroid saponin. A previous study in our lab revealed that diosgenin can promote oligodendrocyte progenitor cell differentiation and accelerate ...

Meiosis activating sterols derived from diosgenin
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2002Continuing research based on the meiosis activation properties of the endogenous sterol FF-MAS is reported. The synthesis and SAR of 16- and 26-substituted sterols are described, utilising diosgenin as starting material. Selected sterols were tested for their ability to induce oocyte maturation in hypoxanthine arrested mouse oocytes in vitro.

Process optimization for the production of diosgenin with Trichoderma reesei
Bioprocess and Biosystems Engineering, 2009Based on the response surface methodology, an effective microbial system for diosgenin production from enzymatic pretreated Dioscorea zingiberensis tubers with Trichoderma reesei was studied. The fermentation medium was optimized with central composite design (3(5)) depended on Plackett-Burmann design which identified significant impacts of peptone, K ...

Homogeneous enzyme immunoassay of diosgenin and its glycosides
Analytical Biochemistry, 1984Homogeneous enzyme immunoassay has been used as a tool for the determination of diosgenin and its glycosides in plants. Diosgenin antisera was found to inhibit the activity of diosgenin hemisuccinate-horseradish peroxidase conjugate which was reversed by the addition of free diosgenin or its glycosides.

Diosgenin inhibited the expression of TAZ in hepatocellular carcinoma
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2018Emerging evidence has supported that TAZ (transcriptional co-activator with PDZ binding motif), one transcription co-activator in Hippo signaling pathway, plays an oncogenic role in liver carcinogenesis. Targeting TAZ could be a potential therapeutic approach for liver cancer patients.
